VCU provides a high capacity metropolitain network that connects the Monroe Campus, the MCV Campus and the VCU Computer Center in downtown Richmond. The network backbone has the capacity of 10, 40 and 100 Gbps (gigabits per second), and building connectivity range from 1Gbp to 10 Gbps speeds.
The student residence hall on both campuses have extensive networking with a wire port for each bed space. Extensive wireless coverage is available throughout the campus.
Further, VCU has a 100 Gbps fiber link to Northern Virginia for its connection to Internet 2, and provides two independent 10 gigabit Internet connections for a combined capacity of 20 Gbps of Internet bandwidth for all students, faculty, staff and researchers.
